Tolerance and Creativity

“Religious wars are people killing each other over who has the best imaginary friend.” This practical observation came from a surprising source, Napoleon. Many people don’t understand when I say that the main benefit from becoming highly creative is tolerance. You realize that there are always multiple ways of looking at things, and that each has equal validity. Remember, you didn’t choose your nationality, religion, sex or race. You acquired them at birth. Yes, you can later choose to change all of them except your race, but most people stay with what they were given. In terms of country, most people believe their country of origin to be best, (meaning that other countries are not as good). That’s absolutely amazing. Out of 195 countries you were born into the best. Wow. It also means that everyone on earth was LUCKY enough to have been born in the best country for them. Triple wow. Reality: People accept and then rationalize what they are and have and then defend that, often blindly. Wars are people killing each other over who has and knows the best.
